Andrew J. Ray is an Assistant Professor of Aquaculture Production and leads the Aquaculture Production Sciences (APS) Group in the School of Aquaculture at Kentucky State University.


His research focuses on the development of sustainable and profitable recirculating aquaculture systems and practices, mostly working with marine shrimp. Research and teaching topics include system design and management, filtration techniques, water quality dynamics, microbial ecology, artificial salt formulations, brackish-water aquaponics, product quality, sustainable feeds, denitrification, waste remediation, and using aquaculture to teach STEM principles in K-12 education.
